[start corny anouncer voice] Have you ever made up a word (or a really weird use of a "real" word)? Ready to be credited with the next "cool" or "PHAT"? Well here is your chance. [/voice] Here's a couple of mine: Douchebaggery- performing A*hole acts (usually while driving). PZ is guilty of douchebaggery I've got to credit the next one to a former coworker Prostitot- Young girls dressed like prostitutes. Not really, he just happened to make a good example for douchebaggery's use. I don't really have a problem with him, I just ignore his political rantings. Still looking for something profound or inspirational to place here. |

More like tomfoolery. @ Paul Z- hey we're all assholes once in a while (I know I have my moments). You just seem to be the posterchild for it right now. It's not like I said you're always an asshole, just that recently you seem to have a big case of douchbaggery that you're working through. I come from stoke on trent in england and we have a really broad accent and dialect. Here are a few words/sentences from our dialect from the website:http://www.stokeuncovered.co.uk/Dialect/ Some people say that the folk in Stoke talk funny, well I have lived in stoke all my life and I'm not laughing. For decades the people of Stoke have spoken with a bit of an accent and some words don't seem to look right, when written, even though they sound right. These days the people of Stoke try to talk right, but now and again we fall into the old ways using the slang words. Here I will try to educate you in the way some people still speak, just in case you happen to meet a Stokie some day: - The first thing you ought to know, is that everybody in Stoke refers to everybody else as 'duck', Woss want duck, meaning, what do you want love/dear/mate. Ow at duck, meaning, how are you love/dear/mate. Regional dialects can be quite humorous. I love the accents and dialect from the various areas in Great Britain. From watching many British shows over the years and knowing a few people originally from the London area, I've gotten to the point I can understand most of what is said now but still come across some things that confuse me. Where I'm from, I've naturally picked up my local dialect but had to work hard to lose most of it as a job I held for many years required contacting companies around the US as well as overseas and I needed to be understood. Made up words and different dialects are fine, but is there any of us here that are fluent in Klingon and brave enough to admit it? Kolch - Crunching for the BOINC@Australia team since July 2004. Search for your own intelligence... |
