Is there any way to change the name under which my computer shows?

I am sure it must have been discussed before, but please let me know...

Many thanks,

Karel

Just change the computer name on the computer, I would think. I don't think that is too much of a problem to BOINC, just as long as you exit before changing the computer's name & possibly reboot before you start BOINC again.

At the next time your projects talk with the scheduler, they should change the name of the computer for you. And do know, that we can't see the IP address or computer name you use, it's only visible to you.

under Fedora that doesn't appear to work. You have to go to the boot manager and set the name there.

Do you have three of them(152788, 157431, 242044)? Or do you just need to merge? Anyway should change when you return results with new name or create new host depending...

Thanks for all the hints, but my question is about a MORE COMPLICATED situation. It is likely a situation of those of us, who run boinc on their company notebooks:

My computer name is listed as employeename.companyname.com and I can't change it in control panel, because I would lose access to my company network, and probably even to my own notebook. Therefore the question, if there is any workaround just for Boinc...

Thanks,

Karel

I would prefer that way... but no, you can't change that.

When I look at your machines, I don't see the machine name.

The machine name and IP address are hidden to all but the owner. If you want to see what is available for everyone to see, look at my computers. The machine name cannot be changed for BOINC only AFAIK.
