Hello All, well it teakes more than 24hrs to process a unit in my computer and actually the CPU is 100% always with 98% load or even more (100%) dedicated only to SETI, the software is day and night running. Why does it take so long to process a unit?, I know my CPU is not a Pentium 4, but I have 512MB, memory is not even at 40% used so, is it that Celeron 2.8Ghz has not been design for such tremendous mathematical calculations?... If so I regret I got this laptop instead of the Pentium version.RGDS Jonathan.

Hi Jonathan. I see no computers listed in your account. Have you detached from Boinc or are you speaking of Seti Classic?

At any rate, I have a Celeron processor and it crunches a work unit in 3.5 hours without any tweaking at all. Now that i've done a bit of tweaking and loaded the optimized SETI app that one of our experts here compiled, my crunching time has dropped to under 2 hours! Not bad for a Celeron. :)

I think there is something else going on with your machine if it is taking you that long to crunch a work unit.

Turn off the screen saver it uses a lot of the computer if your graphics card is not up to running all or most of the screen saver......

So long Paul, it has been a hell of a ride.

Park your ego's, fire up the computers, Science YES, Credits No.

check your bios settings, this sounds like a classic example of an underclocked cpu (prima facie guess)
