Any Superman fans out there? I'm a big Superman fan and I'm looking forward to the new Superman movie version that's comming out soon, Superman Returns. I've been trying to find any information that I can about it and found what the story is going to be. From the sound of things, it looks like it will be a continuation of the ones with Christopher Reeve (maybe). But, I think that it's going to be a good one:

Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in the epic action-adventure Superman Returns, a soaring new chapter in the saga of one of the world's most beloved superheroes. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life. Or has she? Superman's bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.

Yup. Taste would definitely have been an idea before posting that joke.

I'm not sure I'd have started this project while Smallville is still on the air. Seems to me it might put some people off, having two differing storylines for the same fictional character going at the same time. And Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor? I dunno. Well, I'm skeptical, but I guess if anyone can make a success of this one, Bryan Singer can.

I said it was a joke....not that it was good...or in good taste.

It popped right there in my mind, and the B/K (brain to Keyboard) converter just typed it in. Might have to probe those connections soon.

From the reading at IMDB, I get the picture that the story continues from somewhere in Superman II. Or perhaps they'll just use the General Zod idea as the starting point for the new version without continuing the Reeve films.

Yea, two storylines could be one downside. Hey, but maybe it'll mean shorter lines at the movies though. I'm not sure about Spacey as Lex Luthor either, but he's a very good actor that might be able to pull it off. The plus might be that the actor that will play Superman is a mostly unknown actor, so he might give more than than an actor that is more popular.

The only movie of Bryan Singer that I knew about was The Usual Suspects. I've had the Apt Pupil for some time now, but didn't know Bryan Singer directed it. It's not one of my favorites but I thought it was well made.

He also did X-Men and X2. X-Men was only his second feature film, and IMHO he did a great job getting the best out of actors of many different levels, from the unknown ones to old vets like Patrick Stewart. On top of that, he made the movies interesting to people who've never read the comics, which I can't say for other comic book adaptations.

Bryan Singer

[EDIT] Hmm, I had seen on an entertainment news show that X-Men was his second directorship of a feature film, but that doesn't seem to agree with the IMDB database. Curious. [/EDIT]

Yea, according to IMDB, it was Public Access that was his second film.

I agree that comic book adaptations don't usually come out that good, but from what I remember of X-Men, and this was some years ago, I wasn't disappointed from it.

Check it out, IGN FilmForce is a pretty cool site with some very good Superman Returns info.

For the fans of Superman still waiting for the release of the upcoming Superman Returns movie, the opening date is on June 30, 2006. If you haven't yet seen the trailer for it, you can do it here: Superman Returns Teaser Trailer

There's some really good behind the scenes video footage in a movie production video called Bryan's Video Journals with the director, Bryan Singer. Just click the symbol to go there...

Interesting. But the director is just a kid! Insecure, unexperienced... What can become of this? I fear the worst.

He did x-men and x-men. 2 I see no problem!

Directed by Bryan Singer (X2: X-Men United, X-Men, The Usual Suspects), SUPERMAN RETURNS stars newcomer Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth (Beyond the Sea, Blue Crush), James Marsden (X2: X-Men United, The Notebook), Frank Langella (HBO's Unscripted), Academy Award-winner Eva Marie Saint (North By Northwest), Parker Posey (Best in Show), Sam Huntington (Detroit Rock City), Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) and Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey (Beyond the Sea, American Beauty, The Usual Suspects).

It looks absoultly naff have u seen the costume it looks ugly.

Alos there can't be a sequal, a prequal or any other films related to superman hes dead and gone so how exactly does that one work!!!

Maybe they should of gone back to the beginning and redone the old ones 1st with todays new technology and then start making new ones, gives people chance to get used to the idea. Rather than saying hes back when hes underground.
