This is in response to a query in another thread where it seemed off topic. Classic: active user is one that has returned at least 1 result in the past 30 days. Classic had no concept of hosts or active hosts. Boinc: Active user is one that has returned at least 1 result; active host is one that has returned at least 1 result. There are a large number of hosts and users in the Boinc db that have never returned any results. Boinc inactive users are mainly those that were migrated over from classic but have not activated their Boinc accounts. Note we only migrated users who had at least 1 returned result. That meant that we migrated only 3.2M of 5.5M users from classic to Boinc. Boinc inactive hosts are mainly those Boinc users who have multiple registrations for their machines only 1 or 2 which are returning results. This would account for the large number of host registrations vs only 250K active. It would be nice if the users merged or deleted these anomolous host entries. Sometime in the future we may change the definitions of active vs inactive users/host in Boinc to match the one from Classic, to only count those that had returned a result in the past 30 days. And about missing a large number of users or work in Boinc; I know that we are not missing any from SETI but cannot vouch for the aggregates or the other projects. I know there are some issues with matching the stats. For example some user might be known as 'abc' in one project and 'abc1' in another and the aggregation would count them as different. Hope this helps. Bob Bankay |

It would be nice if the users merged or deleted these anomolous host entries.
And how can i delete my Account (on Einstein@Home)?
He's not talking about project accounts. When they switched to boinc 4.19 it contained a new way of looking at the Hosts (each attached computer). This created a New HOST for exactly the same puter(in many cases). Other changes cause these hosts to magically appear. Like changing networks. I believe he's asking that people delete/merge these hosts. for example, if you click on my name in the left hand column, it'll take you to my information, then click on Computers View, and it'll appear I have 5 computers. I have 3 computers, I gave one away, so It should only display 4. If you look at the first two entries there is a slight change in the description, but it is indeed the same puter. here's the names: mobile AMD Athlon(tm) XP2200+ AuthenticAMD mobile AMD Athlon(tm) XP2200 does this help? tony Oh yeah, until all old results are cleared by the deleter/purger, I can't delete a host. Also, because the names are a little different, I can't merge them. |
