How can I have a recent average credit of 40+ and have a total credit of 21+ [on a particular machine] This defies reason, yes? |

No, not really. I've had that happen. Wait until the next WU completes. If it's still off, then it's a poblem. |

As a "Thank You" all team "Cascadia" members have been awarded a 23 point RAC boost. Thank you for your participation. Just kiddin, Maybe it's taking the average of your claimed credit for the one WU(64) and the Credit granted for the one WU(22). I don't know, wait till you have crunched a few, or check out Paul Bucks manual for a more mathematical answer. tony |

In this case, its cedits divided by time. We can infer that 40 = 21 / .5(ish) Recen Average Credit is different from Average Credit - and more complex, but in the first period, they are the same(ish) ;) more can be found here: http://boinc-doc.net/site-common/glossary/letter-r.php#recent-average-credit |

Credits have a "half-life"... The further back in time they were completed, the less they count towards RAC. When you don't have enough time under your belt to make the calculations, the server make a prediction based on how fast you are completing them. Unfortunautly the prediction has never made sense to me and has always been wrong (both high and low) so just take it with a grain of salt and wait until enough time has passed to get an accurate RAC. Two weeks with no server problems will get you close, but it takes credits around seven or eight weeks to decay to the point where you don't get any RAC for them. Conversely, if the server is down for a while (communication problems) and you are still doing work (cached) you will see a delayed drop in RAC after the problem is over followed by a spike as the server works through backlogged results. This is explained in the links and you can also find it in Pauls Guide. 7,049 S@H Classic Credits |
