Well, tested and did all the maintainance items, installed Tiger and am back on the air. Bad: It turned off windows sharing again - seems to be an install option for some reason, upgrade and Windows sharing gets turned off... Apache is running, but MySql and PHP seems to have disappeared ... The Options panel also seems to be missing some of the options that were in there ... Spotlight is still trying to index my hard disk ... Good: Seems a little "faster" to do some things, of course that could also be because I defragged my hard disks (over 20K fragments). BOINC runs like I never did an update ... |

Damn you, Paul!! I've still got 55 minutes until the Store opens up! AAAAAAAARGH!!!!!! Oh, well. Highly envious kudos to 'ya! [getting somewhat back to topic] MySQL and PHP I think were parts of OS X Server, not included on Tiger regular. The better (IM Never SHO) MySQL is available from the source. Ditto for PHP (Whose address escapes me right now, pun intended). Did you rerun benchmarks? From the Roosevelt Field Apple Store, NY, - NeoAmsterdam P.S.: The Tiger thread in the Café is mine. :-) |

> Damn you, Paul!! I've still got 55 minutes until the Store opens up! > AAAAAAAARGH!!!!!! I pre-ordered from the Apple store ... I also got an extra stand and FireWire for my iPod so I can bring it into the computer room without having to move the stand. > Oh, well. Highly envious kudos to 'ya! Install was smooth, if nothing else the fact that I did not have to re-boot 5 times was nice. > MySQL and PHP I think were parts of OS X Server, not included on Tiger > regular. The better (IM Never SHO) MySQL > is available from the source. Ditto for PHP (Whose address escapes me right > now, pun intended). They are also in OS-X the regular. You can turn on Apache in preferences, but it is the down leveled one, not v. 2.0.5x available on Apache's site... The apple site has (suposidly) v. 2.0.50 but the link does not work. :( I am trying to decide to use a binary of the 2.0 build, update Fink, stay with older Apache ... When I get there I will reinstall MySQL. I am surprised that that got killed during the install ... It also looks like Norton needs an upgrade to work with Tiger... > Did you rerun benchmarks? No, the numbers in the benchmarks are almost always wrong, so, who cares? > P.S.: The Tiger thread in the Café is mine. :-) Are the food fights there over? |

One nice thing is that they fixed the problem of the optical link not initializing on restart ... before I had to unplug and plug the cable in to get music ... now it works as expected ... |

Now if only I could find a really useful Dashboard widget... [sniff] [sniff] ...Do I smell a BOINC widget being cooked up? So far the only real problem I've had is iSync failing to recognize the registerd name of the CPU. Very annyoing... |
