Your team, BOINC SETI@Home Russia, has a leader with the user name of OutRider who last returned a result earlier today.

Unless I'm missing something?

Your team founder should be able to reassign ownership of the team to somebody else if he so desires.

I seem to be missing something too. OutRider appears to be a very active member of the team. Why do you think he is inactive?

I spotted this entry:
04.04.2005 Теперь можно выбрать язык, на котором будет отображаться информация официального сайта проекта.

If you team manager runs the team's website, I can say for certain he's not left - He's encouraging the team by pointing out our translations!

I'm sorry. It's only theoretical question. Answer on it is needed for members of "Team RUSSIA" http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/team_display.php?teamid=30257

You mean if the team leader disbands?

Just start a new team.

I'm intrested: How save the team. How change its leader, because he is only fouder, but not leader (leave his team to the mercy of fate). It's necessary to right email messages for members for creating a new named team. Subsequently, members of team can communicate with each other.

Does your team have forum on its web site....I looked but I cant translate the Russian sorry. Perhaps you could post there to people to give you their emails or start a new team and tell people on that forum where to find the web site. You might get kicked though! I don't think you will get Seti to give you emails I'm afraid.

I think I know what he means. I founded the PC Format team over on CPDN, but have since changed my nickname and left the team. The changing of the nickname took away my rights to do any 'founder things' (technically correct).

At the time there was no way to change foundership over to another team member either (I asked Carl Christensen about it at the time). So I am not sure if that's been changed in recent CVS changes. Not that CPDN has changed their server code in a long time, but that's besides the point. ;)

So whoever founded the team, even if he leaves, should still have the founder rights over that team. Probably as long as he doesn't change his nickname on here.

I would hope that SETI would not, under any circumstance, give out the email addresses of participants for any reason. If a team wants to reform then it is up to the individuals on that team to give out their email addresses to someone else. These addresses are give to SETI under strict confidence and are also given to the founder of a team when joining.

I'm sorry, but to me this sounds like an internal matter for the team itself to work out. The founder is active and crunching. If one of the team members is not happy with how things are run, then he or she should contact the leader and work things out. As Bill stated, i would certainly hope SETI would not under any circumstances step into this situation and provide the requested email addresses.

Happy Crunching :)

It might be reasonable for the project to send a short E-Mail on behalf of the founder under some circumstances.

I'm on a team. I don't know the E-Mail addresses of most of the members. If I really want to visit, I can call or drop in.

Or you could use this message board as a backup method for contacting the users.

So, it is impossible.I supposed it.
And that is rightly (don't give out the email addresses of participants for any reason).But...
Example:Creating team->People join to team->Founder leave the project(forever)->Creating Web Site of the team->Oh, where our founder? Anybody knows his e-mail?
Nobody knows about team web site.
To connect with other members->only this message board?

Ageless,
I'm sorry. Who is Carl Christensen?

He is one of the people who started up the Climate Prediction Dot Net (CPDN) project. One we could ask anything project wise and get an answer. ;)

I'm sorry, but I don't see the problem. If somebody is unhappy about being in a team, just leave! Join another team or create one yourself! Or don't be in a team at all! Easy!

And, no thanks to having Berkeley handing out e-mail adresses out for any reasons!!!

Unlike this project, where you don't see ANY of the SETI team on here every day answering questions and working out problems.

[sarcasm on] Just so you all don't have to say it - THEY'RE TOO BUSY WITH THE SCIENCE to speak to us mere mortal users [sarcasm off]

Back on topic - If your founder is still active I just don't see the problem

Hiya Angus :)

I think it's fine that you are only interested in the credits (as you have stated in several other threads). If that is your sole reason for being here, then I for one certainly don't have any issues with you. Regardless of anyone's motives, we're all still contributing to the project and the science behind it. :)

I ask only that in return, you don't judge those of us who really are only interested in the science. Since 1999, i've had a K6-2 machine crunching SETI work units, and when i finally switched to Boinc, i had only completed a bit over 100 Classic work units. LoL. But i'll tell you, i'm dang proud of those 100 WU's!

In your posts, please try to extend to those of us who are interested in the science, the same courtesy that we have extended to you.

Cheers,

Jim (Digger)
