I have 2 computers running Seti@home I have just switched my older computer over to BOINC. AMD Athlon 1.3 with over 600mb or ram Win XP. Can anyone address the following statements? Wondering why my stats have not rolled over to BOINC? Work units ect. It seems like BOINC requires more computing power than the old version? System seems to be moving slower. The BOINC screen saver is very eye appealing, however it would be nice to have the options of keeping the old screen saver. Seems to prevent my monitor from going into its sleep mode. I also liked when you click on the old Seti icon it wild bring up the screen saver and show your statistics. Is there a possibility that the southern hemisphere search will keep the old site alive? Thanks, Robert |

Hello and welcome Robert, The (very good) manual for Boinc is the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the FAQ therein. For information regarding Credits look here! The southern hemispere will be added either as another project to Boinc, or simply as another type of WU arbitrary distributed through Seti. Same goes for AstroPulse. Afaik the second solution ist the most propable atm. The screensaver can be adjusted on your account under Project Preferences. Select custom, update, and go there again, and you have all possibilities. More, as nearly always, @Pauls. So happy crunching (and happy reading ;) Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

The resolution is horrible, and the font looks like a third grader was given WAY too much influence over the final outcome. PLEASE tell me that you have a positive answer. Also, when are the stats for Classic SETI going to be updated, as I've crossed over the 100 D/U line awhile ago (even though I've been with the Classic SETI project for years. As it stands, I'm not going to use BOINC until the thing looks considerably crisper. Marswolf |
