All has been fine, but when I booted this evening after being off for over 48 hours, BOINC came up with all its screens blank - and "DISCONNECTED" on the bottom right.
I had no problems prior to closing down before. I have rebooted (the classic WINDOWS solution to everything) and the same situation.
How do I get my BOINC back??

Regards to All

Hi. You are saying that Boinc Manager is disconnected? But SETI is running OK? If it is BOINC Manager disconnected then click file and select computer and reconnect to localhost. If its something else then let us know.

>Thanks for getting back so quick! Sorry - I should have been more specific. NOTHING is running - all the BOINC screens (Project, Work, etc.) are blank. As I have only one computer, when I go to "Select Computer" and it asks for which computer - what do I put in? Any idea why this may have happened? BTW It is past my bedtime now (and as you can see from my picture I need my beauty sleep!), so I may not get back to you until tomorrow - so thanks in advance for your help!

Regards

OK you type the word localhost into the select computer box. Then press enter. This will connect you again to BOINC which I guess is running btw. Cheers. Let me know.

Don't know what's going wrong on BOINC's planet but I have the same bug, last night everything seems allright when I close my computer, just notice that I have a BURP unit ready to compute and I was wondering was it looks like when the work begun. But today, just before leaving home, I watch the progression of my work, and I just got this ?&%$/ thing. When I see the thread try to reconnect with "localhost" in the box, but "niet" this seems to be stuck...

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi your my only hope...

You don't say what BOINC version but....

Try File->Select Computer...

Don't have to enter anything in the boxes, just click OK.

You shopuld see status messages "Connecting to localhost" and "conencted to localhost" briefly.

If this does not work, perhaps you have a firewall that is preventing
BOINC.EXE and BOINCMGR.EXE communicating.

v. 4.25

your solution give me an error message even I enter a IP adress or nothing, thanks to answer me

I retrograde to version 4.19, that seems to work but was unable to connect to Einstein and BURP, got no work from Seti and LCH and got one unit for each, Predictor and Climate

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

All seems OK this morning when I booted up (I am running BOINC 4.25, BTW under WIN XP1 with the new security fixes).

I appreciate that you people are there and ready to help, voluntarily! One day I hope to spread the good deed by helping someone else who needs it.

It's still happenning on occasion - the suggestions made on "Select Computer" did not help - neither did a re-boot - until the third time. And Yes - although BOINC shows nothing, SETI is still running (as shown by Task Manager).

I had the same problem yesterday, of Boinc manager 4.25 showing 'disconnected'. After a number of trial and error efforts it seemed that uninstalling this version (4.25), thereby leaving the program's folder with the workunits and stuff, and reinstalling version 4.19 (minimum version for Einstein) worked! It's now up and running again!!

4.25 might contain a severe bug it seems..?!

Hopefully this reply can be of help to you guys.

It took me a while - but it finally dawned on me what you meant - it happens when you are about to turn 34 (in Hexadecimal)!

Anyway - it is exactly 50 words (according to MS WORD "Word Count") - but I did cheat quite a bit by using hyphens ("four-kids" and "long-island-ice-tea"). The idea of the 50 words to describe oneself is from ecademy (www.ecademy.com)- which I think is quite brilliant, as it is a very communicative and efficient way of describing oneself.

Thanks! But isn't that a bit drastic? SETI does appear to keep on running. BTW it happened to me again today - over 8 hours and about 4 re-boots, it finally came alive again and connected. The Select Computer just returns and tells me that the name does not exist (blank or localhost).
