<I><B>Anybody need any frozen chickens?[/b][/i] Tractor-trailer tips, spills load April 14, 2005 The driver of a tractor-trailer lost a load of frozen chickens on a freeway ramp in Mission Valley early yesterday when his rig tipped over, police said. The accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on the ramp connecting westbound Interstate 8 to southbound Interstate 805. "Driver fatigue" was tentatively blamed, said CHP Officer Mark Gregg. The driver, 75, was treated for minor bumps and bruises. He was hauling 80,000 pounds of frozen chickens from Texas to a Chula Vista business, Gregg said. The man, who was not identified, was not cited and the crash was still being investigated. The driver had turned onto the ramp and left the road where it curved, Gregg said. The rig tipped onto its left side and slid down an embankment, spilling much of its load along a shoulder of I-8. Authorities closed one freeway lane for several hours to allow crews to remove the chickens, lift the rig and tow it, Gregg said. Traffic returned to normal around 10 a.m. |

I'm afraid the Supreme Court case of "BradR69 vs 1_suthrn_bel_277" established legal acknowledgement of child threads even in cases of copyright infringement, with specified damages to be compensated as a separate issue. |

> Are your old-age pensions that bad already??? Why do you think our social security issue has been such a hot debate? Direct pensions practically don't exist anymore. |

Murasaki san, I thought it was understood, that the other thread of the same name should have been called the "I hate Bush/Republicans" thread. The subject ought to reflect the content . . . So is he taking away a job from some workless for his recreation, or does he realy need the money? I can't get my mom'n'dad on the phone since they retired, because they a) don't like cellphones (or 'Handys', as we Germans call them ;), and b) are on some holiday/event/village meeting/next-of-kin visit... or in the garden most of the time. They were in desperate need for an answering machine when my grandma died, because no-one answered the phone most of the time ;) That's one of the things that you work for: Do not have to work in the 'evening of your life'. And that's what social security (in a broader sense) is meant to be for. If a 75year old trucker has to work still, there is imho something badly wrong in that country. If this guy was like my dad in anyway, he screwed up earlier in life, and wised up later. My mom and dad are the greatest role models in my life. She raised 5 kids, and worked for 30 yrs in a factory. Dad after wising up, Worked for The local schools cleaning floors for 20yrs. Their Medical insurance alone is over 700 a month.. even with retirement Dad needs to work Plus he volunteers in the community. Mom is so active giving of herself it's like a full time job. Dad's job is not recreation, but is good for him. he has a little red truck he his paying for, The Camper now sits rotting because it's too hard to tug around and set up. Not everyone in this country is wealthy. Some of us actually had to work for a living. It's the same in most countries. I don't like the judgments made about the U.S. Everyone’s social system is different and there is good and bad for all of us. I bet you have older workers in your country also..... |

My 2¢ say that if I'm gonna be working at 70, I should be doing so for pleasure, not a paycheck. Hopefully the nest egg I'd have been working on would hatch by then. |
