US House and Senate pass compromise budget plan.... $2.6 trillion and counting..... This budget cut's $35 billion, .....cuts borne mostly by Medicaid, student loans, pensions and other benefits for the middle class and the poor.... (Bush had asked for $51 billion in cuts...) Yet, this budget can afford to dole out $106 billion in additional tax cuts, mainly to some select corporations and the upper classes .... We can't afford healthcare for Americans who otherwise can't afford it, but we can afford to give billions to the oil corporations and some other 'worthies'.... at 3 to 1 ratio. (We all know how much the oil companies need our help right now) The new budget is proposed to only add another $382 billion to the deficit.... (Unless there has been some type of wholesale change, that deficit amount will be exceeded before the fiscal budget year is out.... any bettors out there?) Is this how the deficit gets cut in half ......? Anyone remember a campaign promise? As the nation spirals ever deeper into debt, someone has to pay.... guess who? ___________________________ ________________________ In related news... Which Senators vote against buying more armor for the troops?. Imagine that.... |

I'm not a regular reader of this thread but I just wanted to say... Well done to Mr.Blair holding office in the UK general elections. So now the UK, US and Australian leading elected officials have retained their office even in the wake of all the "iraq controversy". Vindication anyone?
