I have several computers on the default venue attached to S@H and P@H. I have one computer on the school venue attached to P@H, S@H, and LHC. I am planning on shutting that machine down with the advent of warm weather, so I have set separate preferences for the machine for school venue to "Use no more than 0 GB disk space." (What an incredible HACK to prevent the download of addition WUS!!!!! Why not a menu option to prevent downloads instead of the all-encompassing Disable network activity???) In any case, I have 21 P@H WUs to complete by 4/15/2005 on this machine; that can't happen at 4 WUs per day production. So I would like to set the P@H resource use in the school preferences to 10,000. It does not work. Nothing will make Boinc set the resource share at anything but 33% each for P@H, S@H, and LHC, EXCEPT if I set the resource share on the P@H Web site in the "Primary (default) preferences" section, not the school section, to 10,000 resource share. In other words, Boinc will not change the resource share unless it is the default setting, not the work, home, or school setting, apparently. |

Hello C. Elliott, this problem should have been fixed with the current stable client 4.25. At least it works with my two machines. Nevertheless: Here in this thread is the manual solution for the outdated 4.19: Here is a manual solution. Exit out of BOINC. Edit your client_state.xml file. Search for the host_venue tag set. If your file was like mine, there was no host_venue tagset. In that case add the following line <host_venue>school</host_venue> just before the last line which should be </client_state> Once you have saved the changes, restart BOINC and you will see it now uses the alternate prefs. This change will remain even after your projects contact the server. Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |
