I was searching all over the net trying to find some new information about the whole phenomenon and found an interseting page that appears to contain some quotes by various people in government, military, aviation, etc. I think that if you were to combine all of these statements (considering they're authentic) together, it would seem hard to ignore that there is something credible to the phenomenon.

I'm interested to see what other people think about this whole UFO phenomenon. Do you think that we are being visited, or maybe worse? Or do you think that it's all just imaginary?

Here is the website where I found these quotes.

Heh, maybe if they forgot where they came from or got lost. I guess they could hope that SETI finds a signal from their home planet.

Hard to say really. Since I'm up at night a lot and end up listening to Coast to Coast AM (which I call Conspiracy Theory Radio), one would think that we're visited on a frequent basis but then I remember the city I live in and say who would want to come to this mess.

Some of the official explanations of videos and photos of UFO's do leave many questions unanswered and raise many more.

And why would advanced beings, who may be able to bend space/time to their wills, use 1900s-style medical instruments???? Roll on the tricorder!!

I get the Fortean Times at the newsagent every month - from the UK. Jenny Randles has a monthly column in there now:
http://www.forteantimes.com/

I refer to myself as a skeptic rather than a cynic.

I agree. Listening to and reading some of the "eyewitness" accounts over the years really makes me wonder what these people that claim to be abducted are really after. One account I heard on the radio many years ago sounded more like what would have occured in the Middle Ages rather than from an advanced form of life.

Thanks for the link. I'll have to check it out.

There's nothing wrong with a healthy dose of skepticism. I'm much the same way.

Tonight on Conspiracy Theory Radio: The people of Earth originally came from Mars. Interesting arguements I must say but I do doubt it.

Without getting too technical, the hypnosis that is used to bring out the abduction/medical experimentation memories is really problematic. It's too easy to introduce "new memories" using that technique.

Women are from Venus. Men are from Uranus. [grin]

Despite a century of technological progress, we still use hypodermic needles, internal combustion engines, metal knives, drop forging, stick-built housing, chemical rockets, gravity/suction operated toilets, fixed airfoil wings, and much more. If our own example is any guide, there may be many devices that just aren't easily replaced even by a very advanced civilization, or are at least easily recognized by a more primitive being.

If I hear one more drunk "rendition" of Born to be Wild, my views on gun control will resemble yours... It wouldn't be so bad if they could stay within an total chord's distance (rather than half-chord). [sigh]

We are still little Babies as far as technologiy is concerned. Most of it from past 40yrs has been from Space Reserch. The need to change will be by nessesity only. (Run out of natural resources) Who needs Internal Combustion engines in space won't work,,Stick housing either.

When Civilized nations discovered primatives and tried to share with them
they wiped out thousands just by their germs (And Religion) If an advanced Culture discovered us, I bet they are smart enough to leave us alone for simular reasons.

Good Night!

Get your program running
Head out to the center
Terminals are waiting
For the data that you'll enter

Everybody says that you're a nerd, but
They should know that you just don't care
Got your Hewlett-Packard on your belt and
Vaseline in your hair

Like a true mommy's child
You were born, born to be mild
When your batteries die
You're always gonna cry
Born to be mild

Pencils in your pocket
Patent leather briefcase
Studying your Fortran
You got pimples on your face

Gotta do your homework
Forget about the prom dance
They think that you're a big jerk
'Cause you wear a pair of flood pants

Every day you wake up
Your oscilloscope is humming
Parties tend to break up
When they find out that you're coming

(There are many versions. This one is supposedly by Wierd Al Yankovic)

Studying your Fortran
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ as I can't do emphasis at the moment (why?????????)
This is probably the key line that dates the song.

And I first encountered programming on a "Trash" 80 in the mid-80s at your(?) equivalent of high school
