Okay this may be a dumb question but.... Does Boinc consider the built in OS X screensavers as an idle process or activity? My question being, do I have to turn off my screensaver for Boinc to consider me idle and run? Thanks! |

I run seti classic and boinc(separate accounts). I have noticed when seti classic is set to run as a screensaver and operates as a screen saver, it causes boinc to pause or run extremely slow. I have much better results when I set the screensaver to none and turn on seti classic manually. With this setting I can run both clients as easily as one. Although, I have noticed a slight improvement in boinc speed with seti classic off, I am sticking with both til classic is terminated. |

Type11: You don't really need the screensaver to protect your display. Open System Preferences, click on Energy Saver, then make sure the check box is checked for "Put the display to sleep when the computer is inactive for:" and set the slide to around 5 or 10 minutes. When you leave the computer alone, instead of the screensaver graphics coming up after 5 minutes, the screen just goes black. Click the mouse or toouch a key and it comes right back. Then go into the Desktop and Screensaver preferences, click on the screensaver tab, and set the screensaver start to Never. C Join Team MacNN |
