This is the workunit that did have 2 completed results (one was mine) but because of some other results with connection errors, was awarded 0 credits. I don't think is a good job from of results validation point of view.

Hi Sorin,

Let's look at this WU, and remember the Quorum is 3 results. three results that the validator sees as close enough to be scientifically useful. Seti sends out the same WU to 4 people. then once for each failure that is reported back.

This result was sent to 11 users, 2 never returned it, 1 had a computing error, 1 have a client validation error, 4 had a client downloading error, and 1 was Over-didn't need-done. Only two users finished this WU. it's hard for the validator to find a quorum of 3 with only 2 to work with.

As a matter of fact much less than 1% of all the results sent every end up needing to be sent to 11 users. Also, I've done a study of this.

Issue # of
Count times %of total %done after issue cnt

4 105 61% 61%
5 23 13% 74%
6 16 9% 84%
7 18 10% 94%
8 8 5% 99%
9 1 1% 99.50%
10 1 1% 100%

of all my sample I never had one that had 11 issues

for example; the results that finished with 4 WUs occured 105 times, and constituted 61% of the results

does this help

So I guess it was just bad luck??? Hard to belive. I think that must have been something to do with those shut-downs... so many errors... and one is finished also but "validation error"?
Thaks anyway.

Seti has set a limit (I don't know if it's 10 or 11) to the number of times it'll try to get a WU validated. It was bad luck you were a part of the 9 others that had problems. Their problems caused your lack of credit. it shouldn't happen very often if that is any consulation.
