Sorry to be OT, but once again everyone is acting like children and the Forum is out of control.

I'll take a Jug of Moonshine over there, they'll be passed out in 20 minutes.

I'd rather knock 'em out with a wicket.

All I wanted to do was relax, talk BOINC-shop, and enjoy some time...

...the way everyone's behaving, I'm not surprised ET hasn't been found - Why would aliens want to with this lot?

...that's why I stick to this board. Cafe is too... juvenile, and Science is over my head. I'm good with hardware and systems, I'll stick to talking about hardware and systems.

I agree, but when I wanna act silly and shoot the breeze, neither Science nor Numbers is the place for it.

Nothing ticks me off like when people ruin your favourite places... [sigh]

Anyway... once again, an apology to all for being OT.

I too apologize for my actions in the Cafe, but alas, I've posted here so you can expect the trolls to follow.

The pot calling the kettle black, how quaint. We follow the trolls, trolls do not follow you.

@ Everyone else: Sorry, just herding him back to the Cafe. Don't believe a word he says. He lies. The proof is in the Cafe.

NA.. "CAFÉ"

as in "C-A-F-A with tilde-%-small circle"

Before you said it was IE that was messin' up the characters but I'm using FireFox now.

Edit: Ok I see now. I'm set to Western Windows and you're posting in Unicode UTF-8.

In my opinion, the Cafe *has* gotten way out of control. I just went through and deleted roughly ten threads... personal attack threads, no matter how justified they might be, will not be tolerated.

In the future, when anybody notices things getting out of control on any of the SETI@Home boards, please feel free to contact me. Be it a post, a thread, or a general atmosphere... if it's a problem, I'll try to clean it up.

Contact information can be found at http://rob.axpr.net/contact.php and I also generally idle in #boinc on Freenode (see http://boinc-irc.com).

It would be much appreciated, however, if we could all start acting like civilized human beings. I was a bit shocked at the extreme lack of maturity shown by many of the prolific posters on the Cafe forum.

And how are you on jabs and inuendo?

Seriously... Myself, I don't want to have to come whining to you guys every time some piss-ant comes trolling around the boards...

In this particular case, an individual made claims that were proved to be false and he was called on it. Was some of what ensued egregious? Of course it was as the false claims struck a deep nerve with some folks.

Now, I can't claim the highest level of maturity, but it's alot higher than most... I do know that sometimes you might have to let go of it to an extent...

I hope that as the kinks in the system get worked out, you guy's will be somewhat more proactive. Until then, I'd just about expect a riot in the café each time you check in, and I'd consider it a blessing if there wasn't...

chip

... that one thread title was pretty funny ... free rimjob... LOL...

I think the FCC ought to be alerted, there appears to be a frequency bleed over from another channel. CB peeps call it "Cross Talk". I believe the "Cafe" is operating on more than ONE watt. Someones got a Big radio.

lol

I had a bud back in the day, with a 150 watt base + about 18db on the antenna...

It would light a flourescent up to about 20 meters, and you could hear him on your telephone if you lived within .5 kilometer...
