Hi all... I know this probably the opposite of most questions, but if we wanted to end all indications of life on Earth to any person outside of, let's say, Jupiter, would it be possible? (Without going back to the stone age, I mean).

For example, if a ship was in orbit around Jupiter, would it be possible to block our TV, radio and other signals from being picked up by it? How, practically might one accomplish this? Would they still be able to detect other indications of life from that distance, or a greater distance?

I just thought this was an interesting question that occurred to me in light of the "cat out of the bag", aliens will come to invade us as soon as they know about us, type fears. If we were really worried about that, how could we "fix" it without destroying the entire world economy?

Cloaking the Earth would be challenging. Even high voltage transmission lines emit radio waves. I wonder if you could see the change from 50 hz to 60 hz from outer space as the earth turns.

The ionosphere reflects and absorbes some radio frequences, so not every signal gets out. I suppose if all broadcasts were done from satellite beamed only at the Earth or if everybody would switch to cable television. All up going broadcasts would have to be narrow beam and be completely absorbed by the receiver.
