I was just over to the Predictor site and noticed they have the v3.20 platform. I wonder if we can use it here or not ... ???

I thought I read somewhere that one of the benefits of BOINC is that it has the ability to auto update when a new, stable version has been released. So there's no need for the average joe to worry over it.

Boinc can auto-update the individual project executables, as well as get totally new executables for new analysis methods a project may implement, but it doesn't have the ability to update the boinc software itself. I don't know if such plans are in the works or not, but I personally have heard no mention of it if they are.

The autoupdate only happens for the project applications, the core client still needs a manual upgrade.

I'm running 3.20 from Predictor purely because I didn't get any PAH units anymore and PAH Devs asked me to switch. It's now crunching seti units, as those are the only units I got. I'll check if anything's different. Well, but for 60% in 3 minutes 45 seconds... ;)

BoincSpy 0.92 still doesn't show its Best Gaussian/Pulse graphics with 3.20 though. I found that one already.

I went ahead and installed the new v3.20 anyway because a few other people did with no problems. So far I haven't had any problems either ... :)

Jord,

FYI

The core client (BOINC) has nothing to do with BSpy displaying gaussian/pulse graphics or not. It is the Work unit being sent to you and possibly the seti@home application (setiathome_3.08_windows_intelx86.exe) .

I have recently had some gaussian graphs show up, had some pulses but without graphs being displayed. ( I will be checking this out further in the next few days. )

Thanks.

do you have to uninstall the 3.19 first, or will the 3.20 install over the top of it????

Just install the v3.20 over the top of the other one Bill, shut down BOINC first then install. Restart BOINC and click the Help Tab then the About Tab and it should tell what version you have ...

My benchmarks dropped after the 3.20 install, everything else seems to be working fine. Did anyone else notice this???

Mine stayed pretty much the same, one PC they went up a little on & the others they where very close to what I had already ... The Benchmarks are going to vary from time to time, I've seen 200 point differences with the same version client ... What I do then is to Manually BenchMark the PC until I get something closer to what I already had and then update it again so it takes at the Site ... :)

Does anyone know what 3.20 'fixes'?

I'm not an alpha tester, but will run any version that has the 'proxy authentication' bug fixed.

Thanx

It seems the service doesn't stop on log-off any longer.

Since I installed 3.20 earlier today, i have noticed that the wu's are finishing about 12 to 13 minutes faster. I know 5 wu's is not enough to set a trend , just thought i would share the info just in case.

The Core Client isn't the application that does the processing. Updating it wouldn't improve your WU speed. Unless maybe you're running the screensaver, or like to leave the CC open when processing?
