Is there any way to force BOINC to download more than just 2 workunits at a time. Everytime i finish a WU the messages state "May run out of work in 0.10 days; requesting more" yet it only ever downloads one more WU. If i can't connect to the internet for some reason i'll run out of work within a day (probably about 12 hours). With the classic SETI@Home i have SETI driver which i could configure to download a few units at once. Is there any way to do a similar ting with BOINC???

Yes, there is a very easy way.

Go to "Your Account", "Preferences", "General" "View or edit general preferences", which brings you here.

In the setting "Connect to network about every xx days" you can change the value to some 1 or 1.5 days and after this in Boinc you will need to choose "update" in order to bring this value on your PC.

Once you have downloaded a cache of WU's, you can still adapt once again this value in function of what you wish.
