Message 90710 - Posted: 25 Mar 2005, 3:34:00 UTC

I need to change my email address on SETI@HOME but I do not want to lose my account or stats. Can someone please tell me how to do this? My SETI Client gives me the option to login or create a new account, but not change it, and I can not find anywhere on the web site to do it.
Thank you.

Then with the client do I go to
Change/Create Login > Login as existing user
and put in the new email?

Or do I leave the client as is?

Thank you.

Message 90985 - Posted: 25 Mar 2005, 20:12:01 UTC - in response to Message 90727.

I changed my email on this site and got the confirmation and all.
I just tried what I asked previously about the client, and it says no user exists. I went to the SETI page I have always gone to to check stats, and it also says the email does not exists.
How long does it take to take my new address and synch all my completed units and stats and tuff?

The BOINC client does not give that prompt. Are you talking about the Classic client? There are two sites, Classic and BOINC for the SETI project. You have no computers attached to the BOINC project and have not earned any credits in BOINC. Which email address are you trying to change? Classic, BOINC or both?

On the website I always go to it took me here for FAQs or something and this is where I ended up posting. I use what I guess you call the Classic SETI 3.08. I know nothing of BIONIC.
Am I on the wrong message boards?

Yes, you are on the wrong message boards.

To change your email address in Classic go here:

http://setiathome2.ssl.berkeley.edu/account_area.html

There is no need to do anything else after you change it. The client on your machine(s) use an ID number that never changes.

The message boards for Classic are here:

http://setiathome2.ssl.berkeley.edu/bb/bb.cgi

I hope things have not gotten too confused by your posting here and getting answers that pertain to BOINC when you were talking Classic. If you continue to have problems, post on the Classic boards.
