Master File Fetch Failed

This is a fresh install of boinc and at present i think it is pants. I am sure you may have answered this question elswhere but i do not have the time or patience to traul through thousands of other problems. Please can you help, i like to do my bit and am happy to do work units from all boinc partners but cant get any to work. i would go back to the original seti@home but no point going backwards and you say you will be abandoning it in the near future anyway. It is just under the upper dark blue bar. A search for "Master File Fetch Failed" brings you this as result. To answer your question: the error is indicating there is a connection problem. This can be due to firewall and/or proxy and/or router misconfiguration. What OS are you using? Do you use a Firewall?
