Imagine some 200.000 PC's trying to download WU's -> bottleneck.

The same for uploading: each PC trying to upload results -> bottleneck.

Take some bear, relax and try again later. That's the only thing you can do.

Yes.. everything will work fine if you give it time. Think of a big office building that just finished work for the day and 100s of people are all out on the driveway trying to get home.. it's going to be slow for a bit.

I like the analogy of the hiway traffic..

things are very slow happening.. the down time from the connection problem as well as planned downtime for power tests..

This sort of incedent\s raises a question as to how well the system as its is will be able the full load when Classic closes and the regular user base climbs significantly (what is it now just less than 210,000 hosts)..

But then how heavy a load is seti classic putting on the system at the moment as well, it is shareing the same internet connection or am I wrong here

it normaly takes a day or so to balance things out..

which raises the question if it's helpful to give bier to the bear that should be taken.

As others have said, it will take a couple of days for the load on the servers to stabilise to taper off.

surely they do. it takes around 10 minutes to update the numbers. it's done by a script.

Literally.
The link is fully utilised, so it may not necessarily be the servers that cause the bottle necks in these post down situtations; just limited bandwidth.
