i'am sad to say this, but ever since seti has shifted to boinc, it's performance has been very poor, simply inexcusable.

Hey WyrdR,

Well.. it depends on when YOU shifted to BOINC... if you shifted over this weekend, then yes, there are currently problems; but these problems are being shared by Seti Classic - I can't quite figure out where, but there is an issue between the computers that split our data and the rest of the internet.

So, yes, there are currently problems. However, I've been BOINCing along for about 8 months now, and I've NEVER run out of work.

I currently am out of SETI units, but I'm still crunching away on other BOINC projects. This is one of the strengths of the BOINC platform, you can join as many (or as few) projects as you want.

This is currently a not so great weekend for the projects, as the only project that's currently handing out WUs (of 5 publicly available projects, and no it's not normally like this)...

Maybe if you were more specific about how you think the performance has been bad you could get better suggestions... Cause it's not a perfect system, but it can do a lot.

well have shifted about a month ago and yeah.....can run work units for other projects and yeah boinc manages it better....in the sense it is always running and constanly make sure that it never runs out of work units....overall its feature set is quite good.....
but.....firstly i was not able to get work units about a month ago coz of some power failure....and now its coz of the internet connection is down and they dont even know when it will be back up !!!

when will they get it right ??

Well considering this also affecting Classic, why are you so down on SETI BOINC?

When some drunk driver hits a power pole, knocks out power to your house and it takes the power company a half day to get power to you, is it your fault for the power outage? NO! If your ISP has a power outage, you lose your Internet connection and it takes the power company a half day to get power to your ISP, is it your fault you have no Internet connection? NO!

So, where's the logic in blaming SETI for things that happen out of their direct control?

That's what they all say!
If we'll put you to Gitmo, you'll confess ;)

But it's really snafu ATM.
First UC facility management doesn't do there job to provide such a simple task as to deliver sustained energy supply to it's buildings.
Then the ISP Cogent cut them off the low-voltage connection to the outer world.

If I would be a conspiracy theorist, I'll know what to think of this....and you btw ;)

Subject: changing face

I'm running into a problem when trying to change the look of the fetched material. I'm trying to change multiple tags within the newly fetched code before writing it to my updated page:

ereg("{center}(.*){/center}", $lines_string, $head);

$lines = split("\n", $head[0]);

$x = count($lines);

for ($i=0;$i{$x;$i++) {
echo eregi_replace ("#000000", "#6666CC", $lines[$i]);

}

Any ideas on this? Can you use multiple instances of eregi_replace?

It's up and down. Just sent in some WU's from this weekend. But I can't download that much.

It is up! I have got WU's coming and going. I had 3 WU's stuck though, but I managed to have them uploaded one by one after several tries. But a little patience is a good thing these days! ;-)

And my Einstein and Predictor is running great, so who cares if Seti is down? I don't! :-)
