Hello, I used seti for a few years (the old program) and just realised that the old program doesnt connect anymore, So i downloaded the new Bionic one. My question is how the HELL do I work it, I got to the point of entering the seti Url and code, but now what? Is it sussposed to look and work like the old program showing you what is crunching through?

Please help :( *Seti member in distress*

From the Front Page...... http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/

March 20, 2005
Our Internet link through Cogent went down at around midnight UTC on March 18/19. This is being looked at with an unknown time to fix. In the meantime, data service (upload/download) is unavailable.

Hence your new install will not be able to download any WU for the time being.. Use BOINC on any of the other projects to check! Hope this helps!

Hi, and welcome to BOINC. The reason you can't connect to Seti/BOINC is the same reason you can't connect to Seti Classic... there are connection issues between Berkeley and the outside world right now...

But yes, if you wre lucky enough to get some WUs the screen saver will look suspiciously like the Classic screen saver... but don't worry it IS doing new science.

If you're having trouble getting sufficient WUs (which most of us are right now), may I humbly suggest Einstein, which is currently up... This is a project looking for neutreno stars... Once you're set up there, I would suggest you set your "resource share" to 10 or so (assuming you want to crunch preferentially for SETI).

Welcome to BOINC and happy crunching!!

The (very good) manual for Boinc is the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the FAQ therein.

But ATM, no connection to Berkeley ias possible, so I would recomend Einstein as a project to test the shining new app on your puter ;)
