I have a Classic Seti@home account and a new Seti@home account. I recently activated my classic account on boinc, but I had a different email address. I don't want to lose the credit I've gained so far. Is there any way that my current BOINC and newly activated BOINC accounts can be merged? |

I had to logon to the old seti and change it. That worked. 73 de Peter VK3AVE |

Peter, Are you saying that you created a new Boinc/Seti account with a different email address from your classic account, then went back and changed the email address of your classic account to agree with your Boinc/Seti account and that, as a result of the recent data merge, your classic information has now been added to your Boinc details? I presume that this only happened because this new data merge was done? Did you have exactly the same user name on both projects or doesn't that matter? Cheers, Gary. |

In reading the technical description of the snapshot it appears that it will combine an unlimited number of classic and BOINC accounts into one if you can get the same email address on them somehow. I've read the same technical description and agree with you. The reason I'm asking is that I have a current Classic account with perfectly valid email and password. I posted a couple of messages over there to test it out. So when the 16 Mar 2005 merge was done, I did a few dozen "Whoo-Hoo's" and headed straight on over here to activate my existing account. However Seti/Boinc doesn't recognise my perfectly valid classic email address. I believe there is a bug in the procedure used for the March 16 merge. In my case, I had a different email address prior to May 14 2004 which was changed to the current one around July 2004. I no longer have access to the old address and because I didn't know about May 14 until after the old address became defunct, I've had no opportunity (until now) to activate my account from classic. I wrongly assumed that the March 16 merge would fix all that, but no dice. It must still be trying to match on the old email address from prior to May 14 2004. So now my avenue seems to be to convince someone that there is a bug in the merge procedure or perhaps to do what Peter suggested. I can easily go right now and change my classic email to the one I'm using here and I'll be "whole once again" on the next merge, hopefully :). Just looking for some confirmation on the best way to go. Cheers, Gary. |
