Just saw the news post on the main page. I switched to BOINC last year when it first went public, and I don't regret it. I do, however, recognize that Seti@home Classic was a pioneer in Distributed Computing, and it'll be a little sad seeing it go. I'll be tossing back a cold one when the torch officially passes from Classic to BOINC. You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

But classic had a few too many shortcomings and I'm also glad I switched to Boinc. It's kind of neat we are shaping, each in our small or large way, the future of distributing computing. <img src='http://www.boincsynergy.com/images/stats/comb-912.jpg'> |

These are the days when I look back at the early days, when the seti@home crew expressed amazement with the popularity of the project and the quick growth of it. Can't say I wan't amazed as well - first of all I didn't know that many people actually knew of it's existence before it even started and secondly I didn't know so many people actually believed in the SETI project... Now, the search continues, and that's the most important thing ;) |

it was fun while it lasted even though i was only there six months. knew bout it since '95 but we got our first computer in 97 and by then dad was paranoid to the point that he wouldnt let you dl anything. got my laptop in dec 2003 and seti was the first thing i installed. ~boinc its not the credit or satisfaction its the screensavers~ S@h Berkeley's Staff Friends Club ©members |
