Just saw the news post on the main page. I switched to BOINC last year when it first went public, and I don't regret it. I do, however, recognize that Seti@home Classic was a pioneer in Distributed Computing, and it'll be a little sad seeing it go. I'll be tossing back a cold one when the torch officially passes from Classic to BOINC.
You will be assimilated...bunghole!

Yes, me too! In fact, I'm tossing down a few cold one's right now. But classic had a few too many shortcomings and I'm also glad I switched to Boinc.

It's kind of neat we are shaping, each in our small or large way, the future of distributing computing.

These are the days when I look back at the early days, when the seti@home crew expressed amazement with the popularity of the project and the quick growth of it. Can't say I wan't amazed as well - first of all I didn't know that many people actually knew of it's existence before it even started and secondly I didn't know so many people actually believed in the SETI project...

Now, the search continues, and that's the most important thing ;)

Though this may be premature I'd like to give a salute to "Classic".

Hi Joe ,

I agree with you ---- "She was a good ship" -- SETI@home has come a long way in the last 6 years

The notice about switching to BOINC, on top of the classic web page, should be made much more visible I think. Information - in good time - is the key to get people to switch. Or else, I'm afraid we'll lose many good crunchers when classic is shut down. That'd be bad for the project.
