Hi, After I downloaded the last Boinc client I couldn't merge my old Computer ID with the new one. The CPU type name is different but I have not changed my PC hardware. Could this be fixed ? Computer ID 392761 AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 144 Pentium Computer ID 627312 AuthenticAMD AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 144 Greetings, DQ |

Lots and lots of us have that same problem. If the name is not EXACTLY the same you cannot merge the clients. Eventually the old one will be dropped off as the results are credited and the database is purged of non-working machines. |

The server side thinks it is two completely different hosts, so they can't be merged. The same thing happens if you change OS - I have changed from win 2000 to win xp - and can't merge the same hosts as the OS is different. Personally I just leave the old hosts that can't be merged alone ;) |

I have even changed my CPU without getting new ID. The only time i received a new ID was when boinc went from version 3.xx to 4.xx and my old ID took several months to go away from Seti. 98SE XP2500+ @ 2.1 GHz Boinc v5.8.8 And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer. |

It doesn't happen all the time - one of my hosts didn't get a new id, the other one did |
