Sorry if this sounds like a n00b-ish question, but how do you make the small boxes in the signature that display your stats? Are they updated automatically? How do you set one up?

You can get them at most of the stats pages.
And on some team pages.
They update.
Most of them once a day.
The one in the middle of my sig is realtime, but without score.
(ATM there seems to be some server hickup @Petrus, but there are mirrors)

You have to put them in HTML tags.
Do it this way:
