I posted this month ago in Preferences, but I just noticed this forum and figured maybe it was more appropriate here..... ---- Is there someone to contact to get the Owner of the team changed? Our team is for the members of a web site (gametz.com). After being absent from the site for a while, we found out that the user that created the team 'GameTZ' died recently. Can the team ownership (and manager functions) be transferred to myself or another team member? Thanks for any help you can provide. |

It is a very difficulty issue. In general it is not possible at the moment. Sometimes in the past Berkeley tried to help in such cases, but it is really difficulty to validate such a request. In the time of the migration from SETI@home Classic to SETI@home BOINC - for my feeling - there will be more such requests and there will not be enough resources to help. But maybe there will be a way in the future. You may ask me from time to time (webmaster at boinc dot de) and I will put this request on my little check list. As it seems, your team is not as large, don't you have a chance to conctact the active members and create a new team? Greetings from Bremen/Germany Jens Seidler (TheBigJens) |

It was suggested in an earlier thread that I e-mail someone at Berkeley, and I did send them some info, including an obituary for our leader. Also, I referred them to the owner of GameTZ.com if they needed further corroboration. I'm not sure how else you would document something like this. > In the time of the migration from SETI@home Classic to SETI@home BOINC - for > my feeling - there will be more such requests and there will not be enough > resources to help. Yes, if you have the ear of anyone who would look at such a list, please do. > As it seems, your team is not as large, don't you have a chance to conctact > the active members and create a new team? Well, we have teams for the other projects using the same team name. (I am the founder of the other teams.) So, we'd like to keep the team name the same across all projects. I'm assuming it won't let me create another team with the same name, and even if I could, it would leave the old team there and confuse people. Thanks for the suggestions. |
