A glance at the network graph [ inr-668 ] shows that the high speed network link went down abt 5am pst, and seems to be coming back up now, abt 6:50 am pst.

All should be well shortly.

Attn: Paul D., another sub heading for your FAQ site.

Analyzing networking issues.

Look at The SETI/Classic server status page.

Look at the SETI/Boinc server status page.

Look at the Berkeley network status graphs:

http://fragment1.berkeley.edu/~cricket/

[ inr-668 ] is the high speed link for data exchange.
[ inr-60 ] is the 10mb standard link for the web servers.

:-) :-)

Claude,

Um, I don't understand the suggestion ... I am having real trouble thinking today so that may be part of the problem, but I don't think so ...

Is the abve the topics?
The whole suggestion?
Or, from this I am supposed to figure out and write up something?

Hi Paul,

these are the links:

http://fragment1.berkeley.edu/~cricket/inr-668-interfaces.html
is the high speed link for data exchange.

and

http://fragment1.berkeley.edu/~cricket/inr-60-interfaces.html
is the 10mb standard link for the web servers.

Best regards,

Thierry

Hi Paul,

I was being just a ittle 'tongue-in cheek' there. But the suggestion still holds.

Many of our peers ask the same questions every time that the data service is interrupted, so I thought that a 'self-check' procedure could be made a part of your FAQ.

The above is a loose outline of what might be included, with Thierry's pointers included, and any others that might be posted.

Message 84812 - Posted: 10 Mar 2005, 20:33:10 UTC

I have seen "Deferring communication with project" messages on many occasions, but usually with a deferral period of several minutes or even a couple of hours.

This morning, one of my machines's log said:

Deferring communication with project for 1 day, 17 hours, 23 minutes and 12 seconds.

(OK, I only remember the "1 day, 17 hours" part exactly.)

I tried to update the project, but got the same deferral message, with the same very long deferral period.

Networking on this machine seemed fine: could browse the web, etc.

Any ideas?

Claude,
