Good to see you back Henry. I haven't seen your posts for a while. I just wanted to point out that you can go to your preferences and place people on "ignore" status by putting in their ID#.

So why would someone who doesn't believe in god(s) use a religious term like Atheist to describe himself?

You make yourself a target for zealots by using their terms......I mean you don't see black guys walking around with white hoods on their head, and you don't see gays with swashtika tatoos.

Besides, why would you even care what some hypocrite thinks anyway? He/she has obviously passed judgement against you even though their bible says not to.

OK, I'll bite. How about "agnostic" thread, or how about "non organized religous thread"? I am not against religion, but the organization of it sure has ultimately resulted in alot of pain, suffering and death, all in the name of God (that's dog spelled backwards ;)).

well I know its not atheist but i figured you all would be the only ones i could ask this to without getting shot down or preached to,
I was raised christain but for it hit me that there are A LOT of different religions out there. what if mine is the wrong one. so now I think "what if my religion is wrong and its buddism or shiism thats right or atheism for that matter," Is there any name for that way of thought?

Honestly, that is my problem with Religion too! If the Catholics, just to pick one, say if you are not a Catholic you will sent to Hell when you die, then where the heck are they going because the Protestants, again to just pick one, are saying the same thing, except changing the word Catholic to Protestant!!!
They can't ALL be right!!! But damn if they don't ALL say believe in the way I say or you will go to Hell!

You said it active atheists are no different. The belief in no God is the same for the government as the belief in God. The government should also not support the atheists by remove all that has to do with God.
The government shall not make any laws about God weather it is for or against God. So they can not make laws to supress the expression of God.

The word Atheist is also in my non-religious Websters College Dictionary.

I'm thinking we should start by defining what we mean by "god". Omnipotent and/or creator

2000+ years ago, a bic lighter would have made you a "god" who could harness fire with the snap of a finger. Wouldn't alien technology seem as absurd, like walking on water or Asexual (immaculate) conception?

What I'm getting at is that a "miracle" by human standards could be everyday knowledge/events to other beings who just evolved differently from us.

....but if you think we were created, well, I would believe "experiment", but that suggests SCIENCE, not omnipotence, and therefore not worthy of any more worship than your parents.
