Just wonder if this is a waste of good computer usage. Been doing this like forever as many others. Maybe we should contribute our time to United for various medical research. Your choice of course.

BOINC allows you to contribute to a mix of various different projects. The only three currently public are S@H, Protein Folding Predictor at http://predictor.scripps.edu/, and BOINC Beta test at http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/ap/. There are a coouple of others that are in private tests, or will start private tests soon BOINC Alpha test, Climate Prediction.Net, and AstroPulse. There are a few more that are rumored to maybe start a bit later including one on nano technology, Folding@Home, and FightAids.

The idea is that you can sign up for several different projects, and specify a share of the resources that each should get. If one of the projects is out of work when work is requested, then BOINC will try the next one.
