I'm not sure why it happens. With my laptop, it could have been the fact that the CPU cycles down to 600 MHz (from 1.3 GHz) when not being used so BOINC may have been started when the CPU was running at a different speed and though it must be a different computer. If you client displays a host ID when it is started then I would merge the other host into that one. You won't lose the credits. If it happens again, I'm not sure what to do. But as I said... that fixed it once and for all with my laptop.
