not complaining, just noting: just taking a stroll through results lists and found this. it gives info of Validate state Workunit error - check skipped and errors Too many error results. this has happened due to the recent difficulties at berkeley. it errored out after 6 DOWNLOADING errors. i understand that this is there to keep the server from trying to send a broken unit over and over and causing an endless loop, but it's a known problem causing this one. just wondering if a script might be run to keep these results from the purger so that they could be validated? 2 successful returns, one still out, the quorum of 3 may be met with the way it is, not having to send another copy out. if not, o well happy crunching! Saenger You might check view computer, it showes 2 in progress for both your boxes and 1 client error.............none LOST..... Semper Eadem So long Paul, it has been a hell of a ride. Park your ego's, fire up the computers, Science YES, Credits No. |

> Saenger You might check view computer, it showes 2 in progress for both your > boxes and 1 client error.............none LOST..... > actually, the one he points to is the exact same as the one scenario as the one i listed. and he was claiming 36 credits. a more careful look through my list shows at least 6 WUs errored out for this reason. We do need to have those validated for the science aspect, what if one of those units had a valid signal? (extremely unlikely, but that is why we crunch...) i just hope that they can use the results that they did get back in for the science.. S@h Berkeley's Staff Friends Club |

> Saenger You might check view computer, it showes 2 in progress for both your > boxes and 1 client error.............none LOST..... 2 in progress is (was) right, one client error as well, but the one lost is the one in the link, or in my list the one with 36 claimed and 0 granted credit. It's been sent 8 times, returned just by me, and 7 DL errors. No further try to send it. Now I don't give a f*** about 36 credits, but as An'nai said, perhaps it's the one. At least it's probably not the only one with this problem atm. Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

I have experienced the same with WU # 9691141 http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=9691141 It states: "Too many error results" & "Workunit error - check skipped", this after 6 download errors, even though two computers are still crunching this WU (and mine returned a result). For the time being SETI's people have other things to take care of: their server problems (which, by the way, have contributed to generate such "false errors"). I hope they will then fix the problem raised in this thread. |

Hi out there, fear is rising ;-) i already lost 3 WUs and 60 are pending. Shit can happen, but for me this is sort of a BOINC- or SETI-Bug. At last Download errors should be a different "error-class", as they have nothing to do with the science. Maybe they can be purged from th DB as soon as they are reported as Download-errors (and in most cases they are reported very fast after sending), so new WUs can be generated without affecting DB-size, and no ETs would get lost ;-) Cheers Femue P.S.: Here is one of mine ... |

I agree that these can be filtered somehow; download errors should not affect the error count with regard to validation. Perhaps a special batch job can be written to go back and look for these "dropped" WU's and re-validate them. |

A quick scan through myt rsults and looks like lost three to this point, have about 80 or so pending so theyre probably be more. Along the same line it looks like I've got 6 or so errored donloads that will unfortunately cause someone elsr to lose work. :( Its really a same to lose so much work, gotta be something to be be done. This is just a bif of waste as not running the project at all. |

I seem to have lost 5 with several still pending before the 26th. Sometime I wonder if it was worths switching from the Original Seti to BIONC version as I seem to have much more problems than before. |

It is just that SETI@Home Classic gave you no information, so, you did not know if you had a problem or not. Now you do have the visibility ... not necessarily more problems, but you know that you have some, when you have them ... |
