LHC is actually not up atm.
It's undergoing a closed alpha run.

The "clicky here" link at the bottom of this thread will take you to the old lhc alpha site, but that project is dead and you won't be able to attach or get work.
In light of this, please don't flood this board, or the old lhc alpha board with questions about why it won't work and why you can't attach.

It's open, will allow account creation, emails you your key, BUT, it won't let you "Attach" to the project. I guess we're still in a waiting mode.

on the lighter side. I did go to LHCalpha, registered, created signature, edited my profile, and taaadaaa. I'm UOTD at the Alph site. hehehehe

[edit] It's funny, I can't attach, have done NO work, yet I'm user of the day. go figure. I'm still giggling about this.[edit]

Testing is almost finished. There are a few minor problems, but we think we can release the clients and change to the new server next Monday.

No more users can be created

Sorry, we only accept 6000 users for this stage of the operation.
When more users are accepted, it will be informed on the site.

Guess we will just have to wait it out

I'm having trouble understanding this. Are you saying that no more users can be created at the old Alpha site? Do you know which site is going to be the one that they're talking about? I still have my original LHC attached, is that the one, or is it the new/OLD alpha site, or some other site.

thanks

tony

the alpha is just for testing purposes. I would suggest to remain connected to the normal lhc project. wus are scheduled to flow again on monday.
as they do have new servers at cern, they will not let new people in at the beginning in order to test their new hardware. as you already have an account, you are one of the lucky 6000 (like me;)

I tried to get into the LHC alpha testing. They sent me a number but it didn't work. I will wait awhile to get into the initial testing. (I was one of the lucky 6000.) I do hope they get it going this week, I have had my hopes up so often, but I know this is real science and may involve some waiting.
