For the last few days, when I finally get a work unit, it starts to process and I immediately get a message "unrecoverable error for result..." it declares the work finished and tries to request another work unit. Of course, the system won't download another (assuming one is available), telling me the last work was downloaded too recently.

I've uninstalled the SETI software and reinstalled it. Same thing happens.

Is this related to the problem with work units not available? Maybe I'm not getting a "real" work unit? Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix?

Thanks,
Meriwether

Do you have your computer overclocked? What are the specs of your computer? What version of BOINC are you running?

Is SETI the only project to which you are connected? Are other projects giving you the same or similar messages?

I haven't changed any settings on my computer. I'm running BOINC 4.13. I'm not connected to any other BOINC project. I just started getting this message with the recent problems with no work available. I try now and then and finally do get a new work unit downloaded from the server, and then I get this error message. I don't know what overclocked is.

I don't know if it will have an effect or not, but why don't you try to upgrade your BOINC to the latest release version. I believe it is 4.19 as of this writing.

Since you're hiding your computers and haven't posted either wu-id or result-id to any errored-out can't know what the problem is.
But, since v4.13 doesn't recover from download-problems it's anyway recommended to upgrade to v4.19.

Jim, at your suggestion I upgraded and the problem seems to be fixed. Thanks for the help.
