If you are a registered voter of Los Angeles County, California, USA, and you would like the -original- county seal back (the one that got changed because of the ACLU in summer '04, the seal with the goddess Pomona in the center and the Cross at the left), please print, sign, and mail in the petition available from: http://www.ourfirstamendment.org or more specifically: http://www.ourfirstamendment.org/upload/dl/Petitions/LaCoSealBALLOTMEASUREWEB3.pdf The petition drive is over on March 1, 2005, so remember to have it get mailed and received by that date. The goddess Pomona, the Pagan goddess of fruits and nuts, on the original seal honored the agriculture that once dominated the LA Basin and the San Fernando Valley, and the Cross honors the Catholic missions the Mexicans built. Neither symbol is for the biased advertisement of Christianity for pure enjoyment of the government. Remember, ONLY registered LA County voters can sign it. The Thomas More Law Center (http://www.thomasmore.org) is the official creator of this petition. I wanted to keep this post as unbiased as I could because, despite how I support what I wrote in this post, I don't feel like waging a political argument, so I am simply writing this to inform people who want to try to save the original seal, but yet respect people that don't. I hope I posted in the correct forum for non-SETI related topics (I think I did as I hear this is the forum for OT topics), but if I didn't, I apologize and I respect the action of deleting this post. |

Woah! That was creepy reliving WW3... I'm still amazed at not only how sharp my logic was on plonkee #1, but how much patience I gave the er... |

Misfit: thanks for showing me that, I really thought it was interesting. Again, I don't want this thread to turn into a political argument because political arguments on Internet message boards turn into an "I used more sarcasm, insulted you more, and said more things that contain nothing in regards to this topic, therefore I am correct in this argument" type of argument, rather than a civil intelligent one, therefore I simply don't feel like dealing with one. |
