I thought I would try the 4.6x client on my FC2 box. But now that I have it downloaded, I don't know how to install the .sh file type. When I double-click on the file, FC2 wants me to associate it with an application.

Copy the .sh-file to a location of your choice (e.g. /opt), open a terminal window and cd to that location. Now type:

sh ./boinc_4.62_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh

(depending on the directory you choose you may have admin rights to do that)

This will create a subdirectory "BOINC". cd into it and start the boinc client with

sh ./run_client

To start the GUI type ./boincmgr
