Stop the database, dump the tables, copy the tables over, un-dump them on the new box, and fire it back up seems to be how I'd do it. Perhaps not the fastest way to do it, but at least somewhat foolproof. Rob |

On large migrations we used to take one of the daily tape backups and put on the new machine and use the redo logs to do a db rollforward. Still that was 2 years ago. Old hat by now I guess. Nairb |

Anybody know the *hows* of the migration? I do but I don't (I know that it would involve, but I don't really know which database is where and what is running on whom). Either way Toby explained migration much more hilariously. Real UotD stuff. |
