They need to get the Parks Telescope in Australia online or we will run out of work soon. Classic SETI and BOINC combined have Crunched 80.7% of all the data SETI has gathered on tape from the Arecibo Telescope. We are Crunching it faster than SETI can gather it. In late October that number was only 64%. Unless they bring more Telescopes online we will soon run out of stuff to Crunch.

Until then, join another BOINC project! :) Seriously... that is one of the major reasons BOINC was created in the first place.

The solution is simple, close down the classic and don't tell them where we went:)

No, the 80.9% is how many of the "classic" results have been through the validator, not how much of the recorded data have been distributed.

Thats the Number. They have Gathered 1,331 tapes full of Data and and split them into a total of 217,730,079 Work Units. 1,112 Tapes of data have been Both Split and returned and ran thru the Verifier. This according to the Site represents 80.9% of all the Data gathered from Arecibo.

Also, appart for Parkes with 13 beams, Arecibo have been upgraded to 7 beams and more sensitive, and have been
tested for some time

But, not sure if they've finished with the testing yet or not...

That is a Great Upgrade for Arecibo indeed. Not only 7 Beams but Far Greater sensitivity. They are also going to Triple the Band Width they are searching in. Once they work out the Bugs there should be lots of work generated by it.

As someone born in the Southern Hemisphere, It's great to see we will be crunching data from there. I've always had a sneaking suspicion that we've been missing something :)
[edit]The upgrade too Arecibo is also great news :)
