We know it comming, we'll be bringing up some more splitters tomorrow to try and cover demand. And before any of the naysayers try and take a chunk out of me I would remind them that BOINC doesn't require as many people crunching the same workunit for the validators and assemilators to know if it is a good result or not, so we move through the process of crunching a workunit much more quickly than before. ----- Rom BOINC Development Team, U.C. Hey Rom, I wanna say that I'm sorry for all the bashing thats going on in these boards. I know that the team are doing everything they can to make the project run as smoothly as possible, and I'll gladly sit and wait for more WU's :) Wayne |

Typical of UCB... Heck this has been "live" for a couple weeks, with days on end of "no work". There's not even 30k active users "Bonicing" here (seti 1 has 200k, by their own numbers) (1 Wu in 30 days, IIRC) Now UCB comes out and says, after folks move over that "there's not enough work for you!" ("no soup for you!")... Heck BOINC/SETI is SUPPOSED to do much more science than Seti 1, yet, I've not seen a WU older than 9/03! Surely theres stuff from the 4 years prior! (new science=new findings, right? Isn't that why we're here?) Less than a month after Seti/boinc is "live", we're being told that 1/20 of the active classic users have depleated the work, although many have gone days/weeks with no work units! UCB told everyone to detach/attach! No wonder they're running out of work! There's a whole wad they can't send out for a couple weeks due to their OWN screwup! I think the real message from ROM is that most of us should just go away, as they don't need us.... ROM, please have a bit of reason and direct that the Seti 1 site be updated to remove the "join BOINC message", as if you don't, you'll just PO more of your REAL "key sponsors" (people who want to crunch!) This whole thing is getting to be more of a joke on a daily basis! > We know it comming, we'll be bringing up some more splitters tomorrow to try > and cover demand. > > And before any of the naysayers try and take a chunk out of me I would remind > them that BOINC doesn't require as many people crunching the same workunit for > the validators and assemilators to know if it is a good result or not, so we > move through the process of crunching a workunit much more quickly than > before. > > ----- Rom > BOINC Development Team, U.C. AT this point there are somethings that I do not like about BOINC and there are some things that I feel are broken, but I will not move nor can I fix them so I will just wait and let the people who know the talk and walk the walk do their thing. I support the TEAM not the individual. We are here of our own free will and you can leave of your own free will. Seti@Home, it is really about the science, isn’t it!! |

Woody, Pull you head in and shutup, this board does not need loud mouths like you blowing of some steam publicly. If the servers are running out of WU's it just shows how much better the BOINC client is over the classic client (which had problems when it was released as well. |

Woody, I can see you are going to have a very rough day if/when the announcment is ever made that this projects computation ability exceeds what Arecibo, Astropulse, and the other telescope arrays that'll be brought online in the future, are going to be able to give us. I don't see why you haven't been able to get any work in the last day, we have handed out over 600,000 results. As far as I know, the science behind how the signal detection works hasn't changed for SAH, so running through all the old tapes with the new applications doesn't get us anywhere we haven't already been before. We will have to cycle through all the older tapes for the Astropulse project though. ----- Rom BOINC Development Team, U.C. Berkeley |

Anyone know why? As far as I know, all the settings are correct. |
