For various reasons... partly to do with E@H under predicting it's time to complete... I really needed to suspend some projects from processing and let E@H have ONE of the machines to itself for a few hours to beat deadlines. It would be REAL nice if the right click on the project would allow an option of SUSPEND or something along those lines.

If there is some option like this I missed it in Paul's doc. Any pointers or tips of how to kludge this in the .xml file would be much appreciated.

Thanx, Skip

OK, my wish is a persistent "disable Boinc network access". Every time I reboot I have to disable network access. It shouldn't be that hard to this feature - it probably applies to dial up users, but there are still a lot of us!

Oh, and a really low priority notification area (minimized icon) indication that there's work ready to be uploaded. maybe a different color. Again, a dial up user's wish.

Both of these features will be available in the 4.6x client whenever it is deemed stable enough for widespread use.

Disable network access is persistant, and projects/workunits can be suspended individually.

I missed the 3rd wish, the icon no longer blinks for any reason. That one is likely in the nature of the new core client and manager combo, I doubt that it will be made to comunnicate when minimized to do that. Allthough it does show the % complete and active project on mouseover now.

I'm only crunching for BOINC Seti@Home, but I do have a couple of items to put on the wish list for that project.
1) Total # of WU's downloaded by account
2) Total # of WU's sucessfully validated by account
3) Average completion time for all validated WU's with credit granted per host (filtering out all the short and noisy stderr out -9 result_overflow ones).

...and if you are going this far, please add:
3a) Standard Deviation for the validated WUs

Thanks,
C

How about a 'confirm detach' dialoge box?

I recently went to manually update SETI on a host and I clicked on detach by mistake. BOINC just went ahead and removed the project without confirmation. I lost one unit ready to report and one about 50% complete.

Its my fault for not paying attention and I didn't loose too much... but still. I am happy though that it didn't happen on Climate Predictor unit!!

If we can't get a confirm detach, how about removing detach from the right-click menu (I mean how often do we actually use it!) and putting under settings... same as attach project.

cheers!
