I have 1,124.91 that belong to a deleted computer that have crunch 0 WUs, anyone know why?

Other thing, my computer is called localhost.localdomain, can I change the name?

If I understand, you deleted and old computer and now you have a new one ....The credit stays with you. In the dark about the name and how to change it....

Yes, but the old computer with 1,124.91 credits have processed 0 WUs! Why I have that ammount of credit for nothing?

I know how to change the name of my computer. ;P I ask how to change the name in the computers section of my profile.

No, that system don't crunch any WUs, I think that only computers with 0 WUs can be deleted.

No you can remove a computer that has crunched WUs after they have been removed from the data base.....Do not see a place for the computer name under preferences, under view computer I see Domain name and that is all......

Well, the thing that seems strange to me is that computer says 'Results 0' with that credits. It's nothing serious, only curiosity.

I have a couple of computers in my account that no longer crunch S@H for many different reasons. Ever since the admin changed the way the wu information was stored in the DB and presented to us (only showing results for x days after granted credit), the number of results shown for each of these computers has reduced to 0 even though they each crunched quite a few wu's each. So even though they show 0 results they still have credit.

Could this be the case with yours as well?

From "...more" news:
December 27, 2004
We have started removing database records for results that were completed more than 7 days ago. This will limit the size of the workunit and result tables in our database. Happy holidays!

Change your hosts file - usually /etc/hosts

I'll bet it currently reads:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain realcomputername

Use VI or similar to change it to:

127.0.0.1 realcomputername localhost.localdomain

BOINC will detect the change and update the master database for you.

The localhost.localdomain entry has to be there for some Linux routines, but BOINC will only ever pick up the first entry.

Hope this helps.

And thats the info I gave you!

Check your hosts and hostname files I bet you will find the problem. One of my Linux boxes had this problem as well. Of course you already know how to change your computers name...

My hostname file was empty...

Also note that the hosts file entry 127.0.0.1 localhost has to remain 127.0.0.1 localhost (unless I have forgotten something), you will need to add a line with your current IP and hostname..

So your host file will look something like,

127.0.0.1 localhost
yourip yourhostname

Thats how my hosts files are setup and that fixed the problem.
