He'll live on through his humor, truly a pioneering genius of television zaniness..... RIP |

(read in johnny carson's voice) "i did not know that"...OH NO!...i thought CAPTAIN AVATAR was just using JOHNNY CARSON for his avatar because he liked JOHNNY CARSON...it didn't occur to me that he had died...i used to watch him almost every night...he was the master of intonation and inflection...he could make a joke that had bombed better than the ones that worked...just because of his reaction to the audience. just a couple of days ago i had read that J0HHNY was still writing jokes and sending them to DAVID LETTERMAN...LETTERMAN being of course the man he wanted as his replacement...and LETTERMAN had been using the jokes JOHNNY sent. i've already missed JOHNNY CARSON for a long time...now the missing is permanent. PROUD TO BE TFFE! |

I loved it when Carl was on Carson. I'm watching about it at this very minute on TV, well listening. A great one is gone, but never forgotten. I would recommend the Best of Carson. I got it several years ago as a 4 tape set on VHs. There are many priceless moments on it. A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part! |

Wow, Johnny's gone. I am saddened by this news. My goodness. Thinking about him, I remember years ago when he was playfully asked what he'd like written on his headstone. Someone suggested to him, "Heeeeere's Johnny!" He thought about it a moment, smiled, and said, "I think I'd like it to say, Where's that guest host when you really need one?" He was such a quick, intelligent, and funny man. I remember him taking over the Tonight Show from Jack Parr. Another bright and witty man. And, of course, the original talk-show host, Steve Allen, was IMO right there with Johnny Carson in terms of talent and intelligence. Johnny had respect for his guests. He seemed unselfish in the interview and didn't upstage them. His, "I did not know that..." was one of the many ways he gave away the spotlight to his guests. Seems to me a lot of us would have had a lot more lonely late-nights through the years without Mr. Carson. His show was company. I'll miss him. Good night, Johnny. Thanks for stopping by. |
