The problem is that when this feature was enabled, quite awhile ago, it did an instant query of the database. That slowed the project to a virtual halt, with everyone being able to do a query whenever they felt like it. The developers are working on a solution, external stats, external databse copied over daily, etc. to aleviate the slowdowns. Until then, no way Jose!

Isn't it enough that you can see what's pending, received, and failed in the results page?

The pending credit list was pretty useless. With 6 or more computers I had these endless lists of ID numbers that just gave a number at the end. You have "x" pending.

If you get out of the habit of worrying about how much is pending and get to the actuals, it is just as satisfying. I always thought that the page was not that useful.

Look - If it's green, it's due. If it's red, it's overdue. The if final column says "pending", you gotta wait.

In any case, I really don't think that Berkeley should be telling users what they should be expecting - Berkely should tell the appropriate BOINC client that info on every contact. Then it's the client app that mirrors the stats - That way a user will know what's due for that computer without bugging Berkeley too much...

Why not just remove the whole link from the Account page? I agree it's not really useful, and with the bigger push of people coming to BOINC from classic, it will just bring up more people wishing it was working.

remove it,
OR simply make it an addition of all the credit you are 'claiming' and put the disclaimer that it could be higher or lower. it would be kinda neat to see, "You have 1001 credits pending" or whatever but no links to them (that is what the results list is for..). and a once a day kinda check on that would be fine by me.
but again, i am not a coder, i don't know how taxing that would be to the databases.

Matt Lebofsky posted over in the seti-forums in December they're planning to enable "pending credit" again when the new database-setup is up and running.

I think that main load on db puts browsing through pending credit results. Summarise it periodicaly is not so expensive. Database should search through data and use quite a difficult query for that. But is all about desing of the db and performance of hardver. I think they will open it again after solving db and hw issues, it should not be much expensive as results browsing, it is in effect the same but only showing not granted rows from result set. But when it was twice there (all results and pending) it puts to much load on server. And maybe people were more browsing pending credit tables as result tables.
Anyway, some filtering in the result browsing would be nice.

Remove it and had the individual user keep a record of what's yet to be accredited. Each time a user connects, the credit validation information for that CPU gets sent.

Maybe there should be a new BOINC project, which uses the diskspace and CPU time from users all over the world to enable the pending credit feature.
