So do I understand this right that in the not too distant future, maybe coupla months maybe longer, that SAH will be "caught up" in crunching through all the backlogged data? I ask b/c the current progress listed on the SAH Classic website: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/process_page/ shows the current progress to 77.2% when just a month or so ago it was in the 60's. Basically meaning that in 1 actual day SAH cruches through more than 1 day's equivalent worth of data?

Just curious.

No, the 77.2% is how many of the wu crunched in "classic" have been through the
Validation-process.

Astropulse will use the old tapes in a new way :). Never mind a few other things they might decide to do. I don't have any insider info, but I have heard a few things they are working on.

But that is the nice thing about boinc, they can do virtually any computation. Who knows what else they'll cook-up?

Still looking for something profound or inspirational to place here.

You are correct. They will slice and dice the same data tapes and output new work where they are looking for something else other than ET.

Also, probably in a longer time frame, we should be seeing either a new application for the southern hemisphere or a change to the current application to handle those work units.

Even better, we are seeing good growth in the number of projects that can be added to your work load. Even better news, I probably will get another computer this year and expand the farm again ... can't use the guest room any more, but I can use the library, but first will have to set up a wireless lan to do that...
