Hello,

I have 2 projects running in BOINC (S@H & Predictor@Home). I have set my preferences on both projects to use 100%, so in the project list they appear to be set to 50% each, so far so good. However, when I look in the work screen I see a lot of Predictor@Home work units and a few S@H work units. Still for some reason it will not start working on the S@H units. Is this normal? Or is it because the program was already working on Predictor@Home when the S@H units came in?

BOINC fills the queue from whichever project has the largest resource usage debt, the project that has done the least crunching recently. In the case that there is no work ffom that project, BOINC will fill the queue from the next project in order of resource debt. WUs are crunched in the order of the deadline. Since Predictor and S@H both have the same deadline, they will be crunched in the order they were downloaded.

The rumor is that folding at home may have a 5 day deadline, and Climate prediction may have a six month deadline.

The new version of BOINC, v4.05 released last weekend 8/29/04, preempts the work units every hour to distribute CPU time between the projects you're working on.

e.g. the new BOINC client will crunch your massive CPDN WU for an hour, then crunch on S@H WUs for the next hour, then switch to Predictor WUs the next, then back to CPDN, etc...

Assuming that there is work available from all projects.
